foggy day

One morning last week i woke up to some heavy fog.

When i went to take Ziva out i remembered that movie The Mist

with the creatures/monsters in the fog.

It was a little creepy.

i went all over town looking for flowers for this arrangement.  this is nothing what i originally had in mind, but i like it nonetheless.  i walked around the block and clipped the berries and a couple of the pansies from the playground below us.  the purple heart is from a plant my mom gave me back in october.  everything else is from our local grocery stores (and i mean store(s) because i went to a few of them...maybe it was because it was right after thanksgiving, but they didn't have much of anything.)  i was almost in tears i was so frustrated, but then this colorful mess came out and i was happy.   

Thanksgiving 2012

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We started the day off with some breakfast casserole.  We skyped with my brother and sister in law who are in Ukraine.  Then we took a stroll in the park.  When we got home i made a bunch of brussels sprouts for our dinner we were going to.  This lady that Jeremy works with invited us to have Thanksgiving with her at her husbands car museum.  It was very interesting!  It was us and about 12 other people (who we didn't know) in a warehouse of old Mercedes cars.  The man who owns the museum is German, so there were a few stories. We listened to Arabic music and Johnny Cash.  Went outside and shot off some fireworks.  We thought we were going to get in trouble by the police, but he gave us a thumbs up while passing by.  When we came back in there was some bluegrass music playing and a couple of people clogging.  I'd say it was a pretty fun night. 

Last night i also made my first pie.  Homemade crust and all! 

garland part 2.

I decided to spruce up my garland the other night.  I had a ton of fake flowers stashed in the corner by my desk that i used to make hair pieces with.  It was about 10:30 at night and Jeremy already went to bed, but i couldn't sleep so i cut them up and wired them in.  I started working on a pine cone garland yesterday, maybe i'll add it to it, or replace the flowers. Maybe add a string of lights?  Too much?  Ah, tis the season!

Last friday we decided to head to the park before it got too dark.  The weather was perfect, not too cold but not too warm either.  There were tons of leaves on the ground that Ziva loved to run around in and a pretty sunset.  On our way back to the car it was almost completely dark.  We took a secret trail and i told Jeremy that there looks like there could be alligators in the swampy water next to us (of course there aren't...this isn't south Georgia!) but he pretended to grab my leg and scare me anyway.

messy and whimsical

Yesterday i went out to the park to gather up whatever i could find to make an arrangement.  A lot of stuff had this pretty purpley/pink/redish tone to it.  I think it's one of my favorites that i've done.  It's kinda messy and whimsical (as Jeremy said it...the whimsical part not the messy).  It's kinda funny how the arrangements that i've made from pieces from the park or things i have found are my favorite, rather than the ones with flowers that i've bought.
